Thank you for visiting Steve Cole Photography. My photography focuses on the Cascade Mountain Range in Washington and Oregon. From old growth forests to rugged mountains, the Cascade Mountains are a photographer’s paradise. My favorite places to explore and photograph are the Mount Baker region and Glacier Peak Wilderness in the North Cascades of Washington State.
My interest in photography began as a child when my dad gave me a Pentax 35mm film camera. Back then, I would head to my local park in hopes of taking a picture of a dramatic sunset or clouds. Today, I hope my photography conveys the same sense of wonder and awe that I experience travelling throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Mountain landscapes are my favorite subject. The combination of rugged rock, snow, and meadows is a sight that I never seem to get tired of viewing. The arrival of winter onto that landscape completely transforms it into something very foreign. As vast as landscapes can be, I also find interest in more intimate scenes of the native flora. Although not a dedicated wildlife photographer, I have been blessed with being in the right place at the right time on a few occasions and hope that luck continues.
My photography is digital but I strive to produce images that accurately represent the world I experience. I do not manipulate my images by adding or removing objects nor do I perform extensive “post processing” on my photographs to embellish them or add dramatic effect. Details about ordering prints can be found on my Ordering Info page. The older photographs in my collection were taken with either an Olympus C2020-Z or Casio EX-Z850 digital camera. I now shoot using a Pentax K10d digital SLR and I'm really pleased with the quality of the photos produced.
